How all this nonsense got started

I started my ceramics journey in Oct 2023, taking an introductory class at one local studio followed by an intro to wheel throwing class at another. My teacher in the second class was generous and encouraging, sparking my interest in pursuing pottery as a serious hobby and potential future side gig.

In the year and a halfish since then, I’ve gone fairly deep to the point of setting up a complete home studio including both a secondhand wheel and kiln. It took some doing to get that all sorted out (including switching house insurance companies and getting a chunk of the garage rewired), but it was finally finished up about a month and a half ago.

Since then, I’ve been spending what time I can making, decorating and glazing pots. I’ve fired the kiln three times now (two bisque firings, one glaze), and I think it’s time to start showing people my stuff.

And here we are.

First things first, I have to remember how to do product photography and actually take pictures of the things I make.

I also have to get back in the habit of posting about my nonsense on the regular, both here and on the socials.

Anyhow, stay tuned.

A photograph of two handmade ceramic mugs, one taller and narrower than the other. Both are glazed with a combination of blues and blacks. One is fairly drippy.

Some early crappy mugs that ended up with some pretty bonkers glaze effects somehow.
